How To Make Electronic Gadgets Work Again When They Dropped In To Water

Dropping electronic gadgets like mp3 player, cell phone, calculator etc in to water is actually very common, the places include puddles, washing machine and the toilet where we normally make our gadgets wet. Normally any gadget without having internal battery can work well even if it dropped in to water, but the gadgets which are having internal chargeable batteries will not work if they dropped in to water.

The reason behind this is water acts as a good conductor of electricity and when two metal contacts of battery are in touch with water between them, then they both get short circuited which will spoil the battery, due to sudden short circuit heavy current flows between the two terminals which spoil the internal circuitry and will spoil the functioning of the gadget.

Water and electronics are not a good mixture. There are two types of water, one is pure and the other is having impurities like salts. Salt water is more conductive compared to pure water. The gadgets having a battery inside have the two terminals which are positive and negative.

When these two terminals are separated by an electrolyte, let us say salted water then currents start flowing from one terminal to other terminal and the conduction will be more in salted water compared to pure water. So we should be careful enough of dropping gadgets anywhere

If your electronic gadgets have explored new underwater worlds, then these are the things you should do. First take out the battery from the gadget and dry everything off, if there is any leakage inside the battery then clean it properly, do not attempt to recharge the battery.

The recharging of wet battery may permanently damage the battery and sometimes there may be a possibility of explosion in some kind of batteries. Try to dry the battery with your hand or if you do not want to do that then keep it in a warm spot in the sun for a couple of days. The longer you wait the, the better.

After when all is dry again insert the battery and press the on button, your gadget might just work, if it is not working better you replace the battery with a new one. So finally I would like to say that the electronic gadgets are very sensitive to water and try to avoid as much as possible to get in touch with water.
